I'm a Canadian that permanently lives in the U.S. If I drive to the Windsor passport office, would I be able to get a Canadian passport made in one day? I am flying to Mexico on 2/27 from Detroit and I mailed in a passport application several weeks ago, but they have not opened it yet. I don't want to drive to Windsor twice for drop off and pick up. Is it possible to get it in one day???
mailing the application in takes the absolute longest. If you take it in to the office you can pay a few bucks more and they have it ready for you right away.
My girlfriend, for example, paid 10 extra bucks and got it made it just under two weeks.
Also, did you write your date of travel on the application? That might help, but right now with everyone applying for them, it still might take awhile. The current waiting time for mailing in is at least 6 weeks.

No. You've already mailed it in and every time you check on it you further delay the processing. You might as well cancel your trip now as the passport will not be back in time. Had you hand delivered it to the Windsor office it probably would have been ready by now.

I would check with the Passport Canada information office over the phone. I have found them to be very hlepful in the past with questions. However I do not believe that you can submit two applications at the same time. The worst way to apply for a passport is by mail, although they calim processing time is down, mail is the slowest of all methods. If you had delievered it to Windsor it would probably have been ready in time or you could have paid a premium for fast service. If you submitted it in time to have it processed withing the range Passport Canada states then you may be able to speed it up but you would have to ask.
One further suggestion if you can not get your passport in time; I am not sure if you need a passport to fly direct from Canada to Mexico. If not then perhaps you could travel by land to Canada and fly to and from Mexico that way.
